Referral

We accept referrals from physicians for emergency, urgent and elective consultations.

Emergencies:

For cases which require immediate attention, contact the Hand Surgeon-on-call by calling the hospital switchboard,       416-340-3155. Speak with the Hand Surgeon-on-call about your patient. Only the Hand Surgeon-on-call can accept your patient for immediate treatment.

Toronto Western / Toronto General Hospital Emergency Patient follow-up:

Fax the referral request to 416-603-5392. The UHN ER referral will be redirected to the office of the Hand Surgeon on-call for the date that the patient was in the Emergency Department.

That Hand Surgeon's office will contact the patient to arrange for an appointment date for urgent cases within the next 21 days.

Non-urgent ER referrals are booked as elective consultations and may not be seen within 21 days.

Elective Consultations:

All of our Surgeons accept elective referrals. Fax your elective referral to the office of the Surgeon. The Hand Surgeon will review the elective referral, and if accepted an appointment with be booked (usually for an appointment within four to six months).
