Rotations

Residents:
Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Residents rotate through the University Hand Program on an elective or compulsory basis. Rotations are two to six months in length.  Residents gain exposure to all facets of Hand Surgery through clinics, surgical assisting, emergency consultations and on-call coverage.  The rotation includes an exposure to general plastic surgery.  Rotation specific objectives help the resident achieve educational objectives.  Formal teaching is provided during Hand Educational Sessions every Wednesday morning and Hand Instructional Sessions every Wednesday afternoon, and is also arranged on an individual basis.
Senior Medical Students:
Senior Medical students are immersed into Hand and Plastic Surgery and enjoy learning and participating in clinics and surgery. Med students see and learn the basics of hand examination, and common and traumatic conditions of the hand.  The rotation is available on a scheduled and on an elective basis.

"To provide exemplary care for patients with all conditions, diseases and trauma affecting the hands. To foster excellence in education and research pertaining to conditions of the hand."
